Introduction to Bellafill

Unless you’re Benjamin Button, aging is inevitable. The biggest injustice in getting older is that some people’s appearance seems to alter much more quickly than others. While lifestyle does play a factor in this deterioration, the main culprit behind it is the loss of collagen. There are many dermal fillers available on the market, but they tend to be absorbed around the eight-month mark. At RemedyNow Aesthetics in Milwaukee, WI, we offer Bellafill dermal filler to enhance your natural beauty and give your face a much more youthful appearance that can last up to five years! To learn more about this “forever dermal filler”*, please keep reading below!

*This filler does not last forever but has been shown to last longer than most others in clinical trials.

What is Bellafill?

Bellafill is a long-lasting cosmetic dermal filler that contains collagen and tiny polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA) beads. In recent years, Bellafill has become the #1 requested injectable filler in America due to its long-lasting and very natural results. The PMMA microspheres stay suspended in the collagen gel base that also contains lidocaine, which will provide you with a more comfortable injection experience. Once injected, the collagen gel will plump and soften your treatment area, and over time, creates a “scaffold” for the natural collagen your body produces to hold onto, creating better results.

It was approved by the FDA in 2006 for filling nasolabial folds and marionette lines, as well as treating certain types of moderate to severe acne scars, lifting droopy mouth corners, helping improve the appearance of dark undereye circles, and long-term volumizing of your cheeks, temples, receding chins, and weak jawlines. In certain instances, Bellafill can even be used to rejuvenate aged hands by restoring volume to diminish the look of prominent veins. Some of the more common areas of treatment for Bellafill include the following:

  • Acne Scars
  • Body
  • Deep frown lines
  • Depressed scars
  • Droopy mouth corners
  • Forehead volume loss
  • Hands
  • Marionette or “puppet” lines
  • Nasolabial or “parentheses” lines
  • Non-surgical rhinoplasty
  • Pre-auricular (front of the ears) hollows
  • Receding chin
  • Sagging outer eyebrow
  • Shallow cheeks
  • Submalar (cheekbones) hollows
  • Temple hollows
  • The angle of the jaw and overall jaw-line
  • Under-eye circles

Who are the Best Candidates for Bellafill?

The best candidates for Milwaukee Bellafill treatments are those with the following characteristics:

  • Are over the age of 21
  • Have a positive attitude toward cosmetic treatments
  • Maintain realistic expectations for the outcome of your treatment

*Unfortunately, we can not recommend this treatment for you if you have severe allergies, are allergic to bovine collagen, or have a medical condition that causes irregular scarring.

What’s the First Step?

When you come into our boutique Medical Spa for your Bellafill treatment, you will first make yourself comfortable in our treatment chair. If you’d like, we can apply a numbing cream to the treated area, but the gel composition does contain Lidocaine, so most patients don’t require additional numbing. The Aesthetician may then make subtle marks on your face to indicate where the filler will be injected. They will then take a syringe containing the filler and a very fine needle and inject small amounts of the filler into the strategic locations that they marked. Once they are done and you are both satisfied with the results, you will be cleaned up.

The entire procedure can be performed in as little as 15 minutes up to an hour, depending on the area(s) being treated.

What to Expect on the Day of Bellafill

On the day of the procedure, once you arrive in your procedure room, an informed consent is obtained by Dr. Siddiqui or by one of his clinical associates. Before procedure photos are obtained. You will be positioned comfortably on a procedure chair and the area of the face that needs treatment would be cleaned with an antiseptic solution. Dr. Siddiqui and his associates frequently use a blunt cannula to inject dermal fillers. The cannula technique reduces the pain but also decreases the trauma and bruising experienced by the patient during dermal filler treatments. The cannula also reduces the likelihood of complications like vascular occlusion from occurring during the injection and gives the injector more freedom and control over the filler material. A local anesthetic like lidocaine is used at the entry point for the cannula.

Once the dermal fillers are injected into the areas that need to the treated, a gentle massage is performed to evenly distribute the filler. When the injection process is complete, you may be given an ice pack to lightly hold against the treated areas to help with any swelling or bruising that comes with the procedure. Additional photos may be taken to compare before and after the procedure results.

Bellafill Recovery

After your treatment, you should be able to return to your normal activities. You should be able to see immediate results that will last up to five years for rejuvenation procedures, and up to one year for acne scar treatment. Bellafill is often referred to as “the only permanent dermal filler,” though results have only been studied for five years. You can apply an ice pack to the area to help with swelling or discomfort.

How Much Does Bellafill Cost in Milwaukee, WI?

The cost of Bellafill in Milwaukee will be determined by multiple factors, including how much of the filler is needed, the size and depth of wrinkles or scars being treated, and the number of sessions you will require. After you meet with your technician and they have a better understanding of what you will require for optimal results, you will be provided with a price breakdown for the entirety of your treatment.

Bellafill FAQs

Is Bellafill painful?

Most of our patients can tolerate the Bellafill treatment very well with minimal discomfort. While certain areas, such as the lips, may be more sensitive, we do offer local anesthesia to provide you with a better experience.

If I am allergic to Lidocaine, can I still get Bellafill?

Most Lidocaine allergies are rare, but if you are truly allergic, you can not be treated with Bellafill, even though it only contains a small amount of lidocaine. In many instances, patients who claim to have a lidocaine allergy have experienced an accidental injection into a blood vessel, which causes the symptoms associated with an allergic reaction. If you know you are allergic or have concerns or uncertainties, please discuss this during your consultation. At RemedyNow Aesthetics, your health and safety are our number one priorities, so we strive to consider EVERYTHING before starting any treatment.

How many appointments will I need?

While every patient’s needs are different, we like to recommend at least two appointments to ensure the best results. While some patients may require a few more to achieve their desired look, the results will last up to five years.

How long until I see results?

You will be able to see results immediately after your first session, but usually, it takes about three months to see the best results. During this time, your body’s natural collagen production will kick in and help maintain the appearance for a long time.

Can I combine Bellafill with other procedures?

Of course! Many of our Milwuakke Bellafill patients will combine their treatment with other rejuvenation treatments such as Microneedling or Broadband Light (BBL) Therapy. If you have a certain aesthetic goal that you would like to achieve, please discuss them with your Aesthetician during your consultation. Our team would be more than willing to discuss the best options that we provide.

What are the risks associated with Bellafill?

When performed by a skilled professional, Bellafill is a very safe treatment, however, as with any procedure, you may experience some of these common side effects:

Most of these side effects will resolve on their own within the first week. Some people have reported experiencing these side effects for as long as three months, but this is rare. If you do experience any side effects that are severe or long-lasting, or if you experience symptoms of infection (such as fever or achy muscles) please contact us immediately.
