The Labiaplasty Procedure
While it seems scary to get surgery on the intimate parts of the body, the reality is that it is a simple procedure. The procedure is done as a day surgery under local anesthesia. The entire procedure will take around 60 to 90 minutes to complete.
There are two techniques that can be used to carry out labiaplasty. They are:
- Trim method: Here, an incision is made at the edge of the tissue to be treated. This incision is used to reduce the size of the labia. This procedure is even used for those who want to address the issue of discoloration of a part of the labia.
- Wedge resection: If there is too much tissue in the center of the labia or if lack of symmetry is the problem, this technique is used. Instead of the edges, incisions are done in the labia contours.
Once the surgery is complete, dissolvable sutures are used to close the incision. The scars are hidden and won’t be visible. A few days’ rest is sufficient for full recovery. Sexual activity can be resumed after six weeks.
