PDO threads provide a solution to one of the most common aesthetic issues: sagging skin. PDO thread facelifts are less invasive than traditional surgical facelifts and longer-lasting than dermal fillers, and they provide results that look incredibly natural.

At RemedyNow Aesthetics, we can use PDO threads to rejuvenate sagging skin across different areas of the face. The treatment is perfect for anyone looking to restore and maintain the youthful beauty of their appearance for as long as possible.

What Are PDO Threads?

PDO threads are made from a biodegradable material commonly used in the medical field for wound closure. The threads are made from a synthetic polymer known as polydioxanone (PDO). PDO is safe to use on human tissue, does not trigger allergic reactions, and can be safely absorbed by the human body.

PDO threads are strands of PDO that have been loaded into special injectors so that they can be placed within the subdermal layers of the skin. The threads provide the tissues with additional structure and stimulate the production of essential proteins that tighten and strengthen skin. This gives the skin a smoother and more youthful appearance.

These threads can be used to address a variety of aesthetic concerns across the face, including delicate areas like the corners of the eyes. There are two types of PDO threads that can be used: smooth and barbed.

Barb Threads

Very small barbs along these threads catch against the tissues inside the treatment area, allowing for a secure lifting of the drooping skin. These barbs also stimulate new collagen protein production. The lift creates immediate results, and the new collagen production creates gradual lasting improvement.

Smooth Threads

No barbs are present on this type of PDO thread, and they are smaller than their barbed counterparts. Instead of being used to lift, smooth threads are used to create new support. They are placed in a cross-hatch pattern (horizontally and vertically). New collagen grows around these threads for gradual rejuvenation. Fine lines, moderate lines, acne scars, and deeper wrinkles are effectively treated using this method.

Issues That This Technique Can Be Used to Treat

PDO threads can be used to treat:

  • Drooping brows
  • Crow’s feet
  • Nasolabial folds
  • Perioral wrinkles
  • Sagging upper eyelids
  • Severe wrinkles
  • Skin folds

This procedure can address issues in almost any area of the body, including the following regions:

  • Jowls
  • Brows
  • Upper neck
  • Cheeks
  • Knees
  • Stomach
  • Upper arms
  • Thighs

The Benefits of a PDO Thread Lift

A PDO thread lift is an excellent option for individuals who may not be ready for surgery or who are not interested in undergoing surgery. The procedure does not require the use of any incisions or general anesthesia. The results provided are also longer lasting than those offered by dermal fillers. Additional PDO thread treatments can also be performed to prolong results.

PDO threads combat skin sagging in multiple ways. The process of placing the threads underneath the skin provides instant structure and support that lifts and pulls the tissue, so results can be seen immediately.

In addition to this, PDO threads stimulate the production of collagen and elastin, two essential structural proteins, within the skin. Collagen tightens and strengthens skin. Elastin helps to make the skin more resilient to stretching. These proteins will help to give the skin a smoother and overall younger appearance by helping to reduce sagging and wrinkling.

The results provide by the procedure will remain after the threads have been full absorbed by the body.

The Procedure

Real patient undergoing PDO ThreadsAt the start of the PDO thread lift, the targeted treatment regions will be numbed to any pain or discomfort with the help of topical anesthetic and local anesthetic. They will then be marked to help guide Dr. Siddiqui for greater precision.

Once this has been completed, a hollow needle will be used to inject the PDO threads. No incisions will be required. After the lift is performed, the needle is removed. This process will be repeated for all targeted areas.

After a PDO Thread Lift

Initially, mild swelling and bruising will be present in the treated areas; these will only be temporary and should last less than a week. Ice can help reduce the appearance of these issues. During this time, it will be helpful to abstain from physically taxing activities like exercise and sports.

If you are experiencing pain or discomfort after the PDO thread lift, you may be able to use Tylenol to treat it. In some cases, prescription-strength painkillers may be required.

Future thread lifts can be performed to prolong the results of the procedure. Threads can also easily be removed if this is ever required.
